Paula Campolargo was born in Cantanhede, Portugal. At the young age of 4, Paula’s parents decided to move to the United States to offer a better future for their two daughters. At the age of 10, Paula was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure and her life completely changed. On March 1, 1995, she received a kidney from her mother, Nazare. After enjoying her mother’s kidney for 17 years, it began to fail and her second kidney transplant was on March 7, 2012. Her fiancées mother was her second hero and donated her kidney through the swap program. Paula's new kidney lasted only a few months and is now back on dialysis.
Coming from a musically inclined family, Paula and her sister Isabel always turned to music and art for comfort and distraction. Isabel was blessed with the voice of an angel and pursued her God given talent. Paula’s diverse talents ranged from singing, ballroom dancing, and now her new adoration, handmade jewelry. Paula began her artisan journey about three years ago in 2009. She started creating jewelry to cope with the loss of her job, illness and help pay for medical bills.
Paula is a strong person and always smiling. Her journey continues through mostly difficult times but her will remains positive and hopeful.
