What about vaccinations after donation?
« on: February 14, 2013, 07:09:34 PM »
Kidney donated 5 Sept 2012.   I would like to get the hepatitis vaccinations.  Is there any reason to wait or avoid it?.  I will ask my doc at my six month check in March but wondered what people think  here.  Thanks

I have not heard about any problem with that, but it is always prudent to make sure that any doctor is well aware ahead of time that you have only one kidney before he/she decides to give a new innoculation or medicine.
An interesting side-note; because I had suffered from hepatitis years earlier in Guatemala the Rod Cross would NOT take my blood for donation from then on, forever. But I was able to donate a kidney with no problem since the blood is drained from the kidney before transplant. Go figure!
