Fall 2011 Regional Business Meetings Schedule

Here’s the schedule of upcoming fall 2011 regional business meetings, where transplant professionals can participate in discussions and learn about regional business, committee activity, and policy and bylaw proposals that are out for public comment. All UNOS members are welcome. There is no registration fee and no need to pre-register.

O.K., folks, I'm going to encourage you all to attend your regional meetings as well as the Living Donor Committee meetings and the Board of Directors meetings if you can.  At today's Region 1 meeting, the Informed Consent and Medical Evaluation proposals were endorsed, but by a 4-6 vote with 5 abstentions, the Follow Up proposal was not.  I'll provide more detail in each discussion thread in the main forum, at https://livingdonorsonline.org/ldosmf/index.php?topic=915.0, https://livingdonorsonline.org/ldosmf/index.php?topic=916.0, and https://livingdonorsonline.org/ldosmf/index.php?topic=917.0 .  In brief, the LDComm thought that giving transplant centers the unique wiggle room of 90% compliance with policy would be enough, but that's what the proposal foundered on, that this was unachievably high, and some provision must be made to allow documentation of unsuccessful good faith follow up attempts to count toward compliance.  Briefly, my response is, fine, make it 100% compliance required then, and woe to the center that during an audit finds an auditor dialing 411, googling, facebooking, or even looking here on LDO for a "lost" donor and "finding" them.
