Title: New York events
Post by: Fr Pat on February 21, 2014, 12:53:36 AM
For those in the New York City area, here are two up-coming events of interest:
--- Saturday, April 16, 2014: the annual "Rejoice and Remember" inter-faith celebration at St. Patrick's Cathedral (afternoon), for transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, professionals, family, friends. The ceremony usually includes song & prayer, short talks by recipients, donor families, living donors, etc. , candle lighting and a token gift to donor families and living donors. Except for the date, other details for this year are pending. Information (and descriptions of last year's ceremony) available at the Manhattan branch of "T.R.I.O." ("Transplant Recipients International Organization") at www.TRIO-Manhattan.org .
--- Saturday, May 10, 2014: "Healthy Kidney 10k Run" in Central Park, Manhattan, open to all. Registration (fee required) at "New York Road Runners" www.nyrr.org . Sponsored by United Arab Emirates. National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org) will offer the option for individual runners or groups to set up fund-raising pages.

FYI, the http://www.trio-manhattan.org/ site says the date is the 26th, not the 16th. The 16th is a Wednesday, so it seems likely top be the 26th.
