Title: Tachycardia post left kidney donation
Post by: Chelsea on July 04, 2012, 01:18:59 PM
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced continuous tachycardia post donation.  I donated my left kidney in April and ever since have a heart rate consistently above 100 bpm.  Prior to the donation, I occasionally experienced increased heart rate for a few days at a time but now it is chronic.  Thanks for any information you may have.

Best thing is to check it out with your physician. You want to make sure there are not underlying cardiac issues. Some donors have had issues with their adrenal glands post donation so you can bring that up as well. Keep us posted.

Chelsea,

Tachycardia is likely not a side-effect of kidney donation.  So, I agree with Sherri: get it checked out, by your PMD or cardiologist.  You will need a history, physical heart exam with a stethoscope, and EKG as a start.

If you are comfortable doing so, please let us know how things turn out.
