Jenna got good news yesterday - she is now on the US national organ transplant list. As you may remember, she got a kidney transplant nearly 5 years ago and after a rejection episode 20 months ago, she's been stable at about 18% function. Her Brave Little Kidney from Patrice keeps on truckin! This last month her function was the best it's been - we just marvel at that tough little bean! :)
The wait time in Los Angeles is now 10 years for a deceased donor kidney, so she hopes a living donor will be a possibility for her. Getting listed is the first step! It means she can accrue time and look to the future.

That is wonderful news Karol! Jenna has been such a trooper! I hope the Brave Little Kidney can keep chugging along a little longer til a donor is found! May her wait be short and uneventful!

Maybe prayers will help also - praying for her hero to come along!

Even though "swaps" are possible, what are the blood types that would be compatible to donate to Jenna?

Jenna is O blood type so can only accept an O donor. However, some transplant centers offer Blood Type Incompatible Transplants, allowing patients to receive a kidney from a live donor who has an incompatible blood type. Patients in these programs must be willing to undergo all prescribed treatments, including infusions and plasmapheresis, before and after the transplant, to remove harmful antibodies and decrease the risk of rejection.

That is fantastic news Karol! I hope Jenna's kidney keeps on truckin until her next donor is found. I will pray for a short wait for her.
Best wishes!
