Title: opinions
Post by: grammaam8 on January 30, 2015, 05:17:40 PM
Hello all,
I donated a kidney to my husband 8 years ago, thank goodness all is well.I see how much he is enjoying life and grandchildren he was not sure he would live to see, and would like to donate part of my liver to an anonymous reciepent . Has anyone donated more than once?

I have not, but I have read about or met a few kidney donors who later also donated a liver lobe. However, many (most?) hospitals are very reluctant to even consider such an offer, so you may have to search around quite a bit to find a program that would consider you. And keep in mind, of course, that liver-lobe donation is a much more serious operation than kidney donation, and the risks and recovery time are much higher.
   best wishes,
