Well everyone, after months of blood tests, I finally have a day! Feb 20 at JH.
Reading everyone's posts and experiences on here has been of immense help and it's so wonderful having this community.

Julian,
I live in Baltimore and donated at JH in 2007. If you would like a visitor let me know and I'd love to welcome you to the club personally. Who are you donating to?

Sherri,
thank you so very much! This is a kindness that, from this forum, doesn't surprise me one bit. ;D
It's a non-directed donation. I have no idea who is getting it.

Julian,
Wow, non directed! All the best for a smooth donation experience. Is Dr. Segev doing your surgery? If you want a a nice quiet VIP experience make sure to ask for the Marburg Pavilion. Dr. Segev usually puts his donors there but just in case you may want to ask your coordinator. If you have any last minute questions let me know. Will follow up with you as it gets closer. In the meantime, take time for yourself, prepare for post surgery, set up a support system and enjoy the time off.

How exciting! You will find out that the excitement grows as the date gets closer. Good luck to you, we look forward to your updates after the surgery.

Hi folks, it's Dr. Dagher who is handling the surgery. When I went in to have my day long information session I had met Dr. Singer but for some reason he's not doing the surgery.
I do have some nervousness but I understand that that is normal. My company has been wonderful about the whole experience. Having this community here though (and I have been mostly a lurker since May 2011) has been very nice. It has answered a lot of my questions and concerns.

Good Luck to you Julian. My surgery is on Feb 24. We can recover at the same time! Best wishes

Dr. Dagher sliced out my kidney. You can barely see the belly button scar. He was very hands on and checked on me everyday.

I think you are having it done at JH right? I'll be at Pinnacle Health in Harrisburg PA so no chance of 'seeing' each other. Good luck to you!

Julian! Congrats on a formal date!! Can't believe it is only a little over a week away. Sherri's a great "local" donor buddy and is full of wonderful advice. She was my donor mentor and it was great to put a face with a name when she visited me. She's right-make sure you ask about Marburg for recovery. It is awesome!! Like a posh hotel and the staff is wonderful (if Kristie is one of your nurses be sure to tell her Jocelyn said hello). You can order all kinds of great restaurant quality food, and personally I didn't want to leave! ;D
Good luck and keep us posted!
