Title: new donor without any support
Post by: isaac321 on November 04, 2012, 02:36:20 PM
i am just about ready to donate my liver to my little sister but am having a hell of a time getting any support either financially or any kind of support for that matter. I and my little sister are first nations and i am not going to let anything stop me from this donation. I am very ready and am in very good physical shape. I am asking this forum to help me and my sister try to find a source of assistance to facilitate this donation. God bless all of the donors and as first nation i will pray for us all in my own way.

Not sure where you are in the donation process; however, if you have a transplant coordinator assigned then ask him/her about options.  And, during my evaluation interviews I was assigned a social worker as part of the interview team who brought up a couple of resources for financial assistance.  I belive that there are some federal programs that cover some costs but they are based primarily upon the receipient's financial and social situations.
