Title: My Story and How I found my Donor
Post by: HopeisAlive on May 16, 2013, 12:03:49 AM
I wanted to post here to let those of you who feel hopeless to never give up. Here is my story.

I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease and I was told not to worry about anything until I got in my 60s. I was in my late 30s at the time. I decided to forget about it and live my life and then when I turned 40, I started having problems and went on dialysis. The doctors still said I would be fine for another ten years or so, but then I met an amazing lady in Arizona who had just received a kidney donation. She told me how important it was to be proactive and not wait until the last minute, she told me her amazing story and gave me a copy of her book (yes she wrote THE book on how to be proactive and find a kidney donor.) Here is the book I'm talking about, I think it's free http://shiftyourfate.com

I found my donor through a registry and out of the kindness of his heart this man gave me one of his kidneys and now my life is normal again. The operation went smooth and I was lucky to have no issues. I got my life back. Let me know if any of you have any questions about how I found my donor.

Hope

Thanks,
