Strengthening Living Kidney Donation
- HHS should consider what actions could be taken to strengthen living kidney donation and expand access to transplantation, including approaches to identify and engage potential donors and ensure transparent information for patients and families.
- HHS should consider launching a public awareness initiative to promote living donation which could include outreach through beneficiary touchpoints and partnerships with transplant centers.
- HHS should consider developing expanded reimbursement eligibility for living kidney donors through the National Living Donor Assistance Center.
- To facilitate increased living kidney donation, HRSA should continue to implement the HOLD Act and modified eligibility criteria for the Living Donor Assistance Center to ease access, reduce administrative burden, simplify documentation requirements, and expand eligibility for living donors.

It's interesting that the recommendations say nothing about (1) passing living donor protection laws and (2) creating a living donor registry, both of which would improve conditions for living donors and, presumably, encourage donation.
Working on it! The committees are just now starting to meet again. The new structure is that they'll meet to work on board generated projects, so it's up to me to get the latter issue into the mix and advocate for priority to fund it. Public input will help, and that's the only way to get the former enacted! https://www.hrsa.gov/optn/contact-us
