Title: Post donation Anesthesia
Post by: PastorJeff on August 11, 2014, 03:57:53 PM
I may need a procedure done under anesthesia.  What are the risks to my one kidney?  Any advice?

Dear Pastor Jeff,

I've sure never heard of any.  But of course you will disclose it before the procedure.  I've had several colonoscopies and no problems.  Have a beautiful sleep and uneventful recovery!

Love, elephant

Despite this, I did have some knowledge here. Adgiea enough to post on that knowledge feels more immediate.

For colonoscopy just ask the GI about using a prep that is kidney friendly.

Have a conversation with your doctor about it ahead of time to give you peace of mind.  It is the anesthesiologist's responsibility to get a good history going into your procedure so they should take any appropriate precautions with choice of medications.
