I began the process of evaluation to become a living liver donor for a young mom who is a patron at the library where I work. So far, so good. I was told that the last test was a liver biopsy and the need of my recpient is so high that the results would be rushed and then surgery scheduled.
I was told that I was approved pending good results from the liver biopsy.
My biopsy was Thursday. I have heard nothing. I've called and left emails and messages, but it is Monday night and no word from anyone.
This makes me really mad! But I know I shouldn't be mad, but man, waiting is so hard.
On one had I was told that all of this needed to happen ASAP. On the other hand, I know that nothing moves quickly in medicine. Maybe?
Also, I am worried, I mean, were the results positive for liver cancer or something? And if so, why won't any of the team contact me?
I guess I just had to vent.
But I had been told to expect a surgery date on Friday, pending good results from the biopsy.
So now...
Blah!
