Are You a Living Donor with ESRD?
« on: April 16, 2013, 07:58:14 PM »
Are you a living kidney donor who now has End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)? If so, there's a research study in which you might consider participating. Details follow.

*******
Dear Colleague,

A group of nephrologists, transplant surgeons, and clinical researchers at the University of Chicago in collaboration with colleagues at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), are trying to understand why some former living donors develop ESRD. To that end, we are trying to locate former living kidney donors who have developed ESRD. There are at least 320 such individuals.  We want to collect health history and to obtain a blood sample for genetic testing.

HOW TO HELP: If you have treated or know of a former living donor now in ESRD, please contact us and we will give you more information about the study and how to help us recruit your patient(s). Even if the patient is deceased, we still want   some basic demographic information for our study so please contact us.

You can reach Dr. Lainie Ross by email: Lross@uchicago.edu or by phone 773-702-6323. You can also contact the research assistant, Michael Poulson by email:  mpoulson@uchicago.edu or by phone at 773-834-7545.  We will send you more information and discuss the study in more detail.

Sincerely yours,

Lainie Ross
