UNOS makes changes in absence of director

The United Network for Organ Sharing has made some temporary leadership changes while its executive director, Walter Graham, is out on medical leave.

Douglas E. Harvey, assistant executive director for administration, will assume responsibility for UNOS corporate issues. Harvey, who has been with UNOS since 1991, was appointed assistant executive director in 2010.

Brian Shepard, who joined UNOS in 2010 as director of policy, will address matters related to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network contracts.

Graham is expected to return, a UNOS spokesman said.

UNOS is a Richmond-based private, nonprofit organization that manages the nation's organ transplant system under contract with the federal government.
