A Special Gift

Hey, it’s Talia! Hope you all had a good weekend.

This weeks’ column is about Living Organ Donation. I got to ask Beth Tingle, of Jewish Hospital St. Mary’s HealthCare, a couple questions and wanted to share with you what I learned.

I hope this helps all of you understand as much as it has me.

N.B.:  Error noted: "According to the United Network for Organ Sharing there were approximately 6,200 transplants from living donors in the last five years."  Should say "an average of about 6,200 in each of the past 10 years."
Unrelated directed kidney donor in 2003, recipient and I both well.
620 time blood and platelet donor since 1976 and still giving!
Elected to the OPTN/UNOS Boards of Directors & Executive, Kidney Transplantation, and Ad Hoc Public Solicitation of Organ Donors Committees, 2005-2011
Proud grandpa!
