Questions about donating
« on: March 24, 2013, 03:34:53 PM »
I was wondering if order to be a living donor for a kidney can you have any health problems?  The ones that I would be talking about in specific would be high blood pressure?  I know there is a lady close to my hometown that needs a liver.  I was wondering if I would be able to help or not.

MistyP,

Most facilities will not accept donors who have high blood pressure.  Having stated that, each facility appears to have their own guidelines, and I have heard that there are some facilities that accept donations from donors who have high blood pressure and are on medication.  However, I am not aware of any facilities which fit into the category.

Hopefully others on the forum may be able to shed additional light on the subject.
