Gift of Life Donor program honors living organ donors

The Gift of Life Donor Program on Feb. 22 hosted a ceremony and luncheon to honor people in the area who became living donors.

According to Gift of Life, more than 14 pairs of living donors and recipients were joined by their family and friends, as well as staff from the region's transplant centers.

Those honored included:

Scott and Jodie VanDenHengel of Mechanicsburg. Scott donated a kidney to his wife, Jodie.
Brooke Miller of Lewisberry who donated a kidney to Marjorie Creamer of Mechanicsburg.
Kristy Connelly of Palmyra who donated a kidney to James Small of McSherrystown.
Margaret Lombardo of Dillsburg gave a non-directed kidney donation.

Guest speakers included Steven Jennings, a living donor and donor advocate who donated a kidney to a colleague in 2012.
Unrelated directed kidney donor in 2003, recipient and I both well.
620 time blood and platelet donor since 1976 and still giving!
Elected to the OPTN/UNOS Boards of Directors & Executive, Kidney Transplantation, and Ad Hoc Public Solicitation of Organ Donors Committees, 2005-2011
Proud grandpa!
