The 18 month run up to 10 years ago today was challenging and educational in many ways. On of the greatest resources and principal joys I discovered then was LDO. I became a member, not just a reader, the night before my surgery, thinking I'd finally reached the end of this path. I never anticipated the wealth of relationships and experiences to come. You all have helped me prepare and succeed for my first public speech about my donation, my challenging talk at the 50th anniversary event, becoming a moderator here, my first meeting with the OPTN/UNOS Solicitation Committee, my subsequent election to the OPTN/UNOS board, the Kidney Committee, and the Executive Committee. The progress made so far to address problems we identified so long ago is real, even if frustratingly slow, incremental, and as yet incomplete. We have turned the juggernaut to a better direction. Thank you all, so much, for your trust, your candor, and your courage in making sure your unique experience, good, bad, or problematic, informs all of us as we journey together into an unknown future. Far flung we may be, but y'all are ny people. Take care, and enjoy!
