How we cook our food and GFR
« on: December 08, 2012, 08:11:38 PM »
I recently read an article where a study was done on food that was cooked at higher temperatures caused a change in the molecules which were harder to digest, more ash, which made it harder on our kidneys to filter, causing higher GFR.

It recommended only poaching, boiling and steaming of foods.  If you fry in a pan only do so at a lower temps, such as eggs, and of course to use a healthy spray or monounsaturated oil for any pan frying.  It may take a bit longer to cook of course, but in the long run for us donors may have longevity ramifications of maintaining what we have.

So I guess hold down on searing your meat, using grills for cooking foods, and plan on cooking slower and lower.

Just thought I would pass this along and wish everyone the best.

Donated 3/10/11 to my niece at UW Madison, Wi
