Donor recognition
« on: May 23, 2013, 09:58:26 PM »
The Department of Health and Human Services of the federal government has had the nice practice of holding a week-end "National Donor Recognition Ceremony" in Washington D.C. every two years. I had the pleasure of being able to attend one 10 years ago, and it was the first time I met other living donors. Of course most of the participants were donor families receiving recognition for allowing the transplant of the organs of deceased loved ones, but there were also about a dozen living kidney or liver donors there as well and it was great sharing our stories.
Sadly I have ben informed that the Recognition Ceremony that would have taken place this summer (2013) will NOT be held, I believe due to budget problems.
Just wanted to let people know in case anyone was planning to go.
                     Fr. Pat
