Webinar now available – The New Kidney Allocation System: What Referring Physicians Need to Know

In November 2013, the OPTN/UNOS Board of Directors approved policy to substantially revise the national kidney allocation system. This recording provides basic information to physicians who may refer kidney patients for transplant evaluation about changes to the kidney allocation system. It is intended to raise awareness among referring physicians of the importance of early referral and pre-emptive listing for transplantation.
The program will:
Explain the new kidney allocation policy and its goals;
Summarize the changes in allocation components for deceased donor kidneys;
Describe patient indicators appropriate for transplant evaluation referral; and
List resources available for additional information including education for patients.
