Donating to my niece on April 15
« on: February 18, 2013, 03:01:31 PM »
I am getting ready to donate my kidney to my 17 year old niece. We live in CO and the surgery is going to be done at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore MD. This will be her 2nd kidney transplant, my brother (her dad) gave her his when she was 5. She was born with very limited kidney function. I am a 5/6 match for her - actually a better match than my brother was!! I found this site on line and thought it might be helpful to me!!!

Great! Do you have a surgery date?
Daughter Jenna is 31 years old and was on dialysis.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I donated at Hopkins 5 years ago to my brother. We are both doing well. If you would like to email me feel free and if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me. I am actually in nursing school now and will be doing my practicum on the transplant unit (Zayed 9W).
