Kidney donor on mend after life-saving operation
By Nichola Rutherford

An Inverness chef who developed kidney failure is recovering from a transplant – 10 years after he donated a healthy organ to his sick sister.
Ravee Mahaboon, 46, travelled from Thailand to give his eldest sister, Nopparatt Sattaphol, 53, a kidney when she fell ill at her home in London a decade ago.
The operation transformed the life of the mother-of-one but last year Mr Mahaboon, who now works as a chef at Hootananny's in Church Street, Inverness, also fell ill.
Within months he was undergoing four-hour sessions of dialysis three days a week at Raigmore Hospital and put on the waiting list for new kidney.
