Here is the thing...as living donors we need to live a healthy lifestyle and get yearly primary care for risk assessment and health maintenance. I donated to my brother 16 years ago...4 years ago I was diagnosed with Hypertension (like my sister, my 3 brothers and my parents) I take my meds, my kidney function is totally normal...get follow up ...its the key. The transplant program does not have a crystal ball...they do not know your future...its up to you to get primary care follow up.
234 patients of 10,000 get ESRD, 90 donors of 10,000 develop ESRD

I've merged the two separate popular threads on GFR.

My own values of eGFR and mGFR show how complicated interpretations may be, however.  In Oct 2009, my serum creatinine was 1.33, my eGFR (estimated GFR) was 55 by CKD-EPI, while my mGFR (measured GFR) was 66.  12 MONTHS LATER, my serum creatinine 1.2, eGFR by CKD-EPI was 61, and mGFR was 64.

Hi Bill,
While mentioning mGFR where you referring to mGFR using 24Hr Creatinine Clearance, and if so whether it is simply CrCl or was it Corrected Creatinine Clearance (after accounting for BSA).

Waking up this thread to share good news.  6 1/2 years after donation, my serum creatinine came back 1.02, the lowest I've seen since donating.  I'm about 15-20 lbs lighter than when I donated. I wasn't overweight then, and I'm not too light now, just moving within "normal".  Don't know if that had an effect on the creatinine or not, but it's the only thing that changed.  Has anyone else seen this kind of result?
