Immunizations for Travel Abroad?

My friend wants me to join her for travel in Europe, India, and Southeast Asia. From what I understand you have to take a bunch of immunizations and preventative meds before you travel abroad. I'm wondering if anyone has done so, and if there were warnings against particular shots/pills and/or prohibitive travel to certain countries due to having one kidney.
