While Brian Martindale and Jessica Schwerin may both live in Bay City, their story is now known beyond the region.

Martindale, who donated a kidney to the 10-year-old Jessica in January, has encountered financial problems post-surgery, due in part to complications from the transplant procedure and his inability to work full-time.
