Hi All. I donated my left kidney to a good friend in November 2006. For the last three years I have had a hydrocele on the donation side, and my left leg is swollen above my sock, and my left foot is very numb and the sole of my foot is painful.

My Creatinine is 1.3, and Diabetic tests are negative. Does anyone else have these symptoms?

I also had major back surgery three years ago, with one disc replaced and three others stabilized with hardware.

Also, I would donate again even if it killed me. The family that You inherit when donating to a friend make it worth any negatives that it causes to Your help. The friend that was dying 8 years ago is going on a hunting trip with his old buddies. I was so happy to hear that, it brought tears to my eyes. Steve is now the second Brother that I never had, and his family considers me to be a member of their family, and I love them dearly. Thanks for Your sacrifice everyone. There is a place in Heaven for all of You.

I had numbness in my left thigh for about a year after donation.  It's gone now - or it just doesn't bother me anymore, one or the other.

What does your doctor say? Are your symptoms related to your donation after all this time?

Best wishes, Ajay. I experienced a left side hydrocele a year and a half after donating my left kidney. After six more months I had a hydrocelectomy to remove it. If you have access to a donor advocate or ombudsman at the transplant center where you donated, the symptoms you describe sound like they're worth investigating on their dime. What does your primary care physician say? Are you seeing specialists?
