Hi there.  I am new to this forum and am glad I have found it.  Has anyone been involved with a liver donation?  I would love to hear first hand.  My dad has liver cancer, compounding by NASH cirrhosis (non-alcoholic; it's environmentally caused) and we are at the beginning stages of getting approved for a liver transplant.  We are looking at a living donor, hoping one of our family members is a match.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.  I've read through a lot of posts here on kidney donations, but haven't found much info on liver.
Thanks!!

Fr Pat

If you click "experiences" above you will find a lot of kidney donation narrations, followed by some liver donation narrations if you scroll down. Also, there were a couple of liver donors who recently posted at the www.facebook.com site, at the Living Donors on Line Facebook page.

HI, am new here as well. Sorry to hear about your father I hope the best for him. We just found out this week that my mother has officially been listed. She has had Hep C 35 years now from a blood transfusion and has end stage liver failure and encephalopathy. I am going to be the first to be tested to be her living donor and have so many questions. When are your family members starting testing and who is being tested for him?

My sisters and husband have already had their blood type matched.
I am a cancer survivor so I am not eligible to be a donor :(
The approval process with us has already started with the transplant team, my parents met with them a few weeks ago.
The three people above will take the next steps in the donor matching process as soon as my dad's social  worker (from hospital transplant team) returns from vacation this week.
Best of  luck in the process.  I know it's a long one  :-[
