Once they take out the catheter (ouch) they will encourage you to walk.  First day is a blur due to the drugs they knock you out with.      You want to be real careful.   Don't do something that will pull the stitches.    It isn't a walk in the park - you must be prepared to care for yourself.   They will have you on a weight lift restriction of about 8- 10 lbs for a couple of weeks.   I admit to skiing at about 10 weeks - but it was all downhill :) with no falls.

But being active, carefully active will help you heal faster.   Website - cool.    Will check it out.

I looked at our website too, it's old. I guess we use our FaceBook more than anything. I just got a talking to because my softball coach called. I told him I could probably play in about a month. They are wanting to duct tape me down for about two months. I love skiing :) my receipiant named his kidney "Faith" :) by faith we are beleiving this will be teh last kidney he will ever need :) do you FaceBook?

Definitely on fb.   Keeps me in touch with my grand kids, kids, and friends.   Retired military so I stay in touch with people around the country.    Pix on there of my brother and I recovering.   I'd nix the softball.    Keep score and stats this year - consider it part of the gift.     

April 11 th isn't   that far away.  Good to donate then as the weather will be nice and you can walk a bunch.

I run, bike and skate..outside :) you don't think I can play ball in about 6 weeks after. I'd promise not to slide, or dive.  You think I'll be running by then? I talked my worship leader into tying me play guitar on teh following wed. Service. Acoustic, not electric so I won't have to be changing my pedals, just sit and stum. I'm not just going to stay home while me whole family is at church getting their praise on. I plan to be there teh following Sunday as well .

I think it is different with everyone.   I would be surprised if you were running.   I think the twisting action of swinging a bat and throwing  ball would put stress on the incision.  I'll bet your doctor would not advise you to wait.   Performing.. I would think yes.

Although I'll pout and fuss missing out on fun, it really isn't important. My recipiant is. He really needs this time to hurry up. He's still collecting fluid for not having kidneys in his body despite dyalisis. It concerns me. I know I will find clever ways to do things. There's always fun to be had around little children. I may discover a new passion during this time.

That's the spirit! It's a time to explore new options while you heal.   Unfortunately, or perhaps as should be expected, most of the care and responsibility for getting better will be up to you.   My aftercare folks scheduled me with an appointment at the local kidney specialists in Ann Arbor.  Once they finally saw me they were like "why are you here?".    Huh?    If you read through the threads you'll find some who have had difficulties with the healing.   Now, sometimes people heal faster than teased lightning - you migh be one (let's hope so).   But take it easy.  Your recipient will be closely monitored.   Much less so for you.

I went back to work at 3.5 weeks.  I had to have one of the ladies open a work area door for me because the pull exceeded the 8 lb limit!   LOL.
